The 4th Dimension of Leadership
Jul 25, 2025
We’re not short on definitions of leadership—but truly transformational leadership? That’s rare. It’s the kind of leadership that elevates people, shifts culture, and multiplies results.
In this week’s Growth Insights, we explore what I call the Fourth Dimension of Leadership—where influence is earned, intuition is sharpened, buy-in is secured, momentum is harnessed, and explosive growth becomes possible.
Leadership Is Influence
Without influence, you will never be able to lead others. Influence isn’t about coercion or authority. It’s about trust, respect, and consistent value.
My mentor John C. Maxwell famously says, “He who thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk.”
Whether you’re an executive, entrepreneur, or team leader, your leadership potential begins and ends with your ability to influence others positively and ethically.
Reflection Questions:
-
Where does your influence come from? Your title or your character?
-
What value do others receive from following your lead?
Action Steps:
-
Write down 3 ways you can increase value in your team’s life this week. Then do them.
-
Audit your leadership style, are you building trust or just giving direction?
Leaders See Things Others Don’t
Transformational leaders don’t just respond to what’s happening they sense it before it happens.
Leadership intuition is part experience, part pattern recognition, and part emotional intelligence. The best leaders don’t just read situations they read people.
Reflection Questions:
-
When have you trusted your gut and been right?
-
Do you pause long enough to sense what’s really going on beneath the surface?
Action Steps:
-
Begin meetings with intentional silence and observe what isn’t being said.
-
Journal your decision-making process for a week. Track what your intuition is telling you vs. what logic suggests.
People Buy into the Leader Before They Buy into the Vision
You could have the clearest strategy in the world, but if your people don’t believe in you, they won’t buy into the plan.
Buy-in isn’t about charisma. It’s about character, consistency, and connection.
Reflection Questions:
-
Are your people following the vision or just complying with the plan?
-
How would your team rate their trust in you as a leader?
Action Steps:
-
Host a “vision alignment session” where your team shares what the mission means to them.
-
Invite anonymous feedback on your leadership. Then act on it.
Momentum Is a Leader’s Best Friend
Nothing fuels progress like momentum. It makes problems seem smaller and wins feel bigger. Leaders who create it and protect it have a compounding advantage.
Think of momentum like compound interest. Once it’s working for you, results accelerate.
Reflection Questions:
-
What kills momentum in your organization? (Micromanagement, unclear goals, siloed teams?)
-
What catalyzes it? (Clear wins, quick feedback, aligned energy?)
Action Steps:
-
Celebrate small wins publicly and frequently.
-
Eliminate one friction point this week that’s slowing your team down.
Lead Leaders, Not Just Followers
Leading followers adds. Leading leaders multiplies.
If you want exponential impact then you need to train, develop, and empower other leaders. Transformational leaders invest in potential.
Reflection Questions:
-
Are you developing followers or multiplying leaders?
-
Who on your team has leadership potential that you’ve yet to unlock?
Action Steps:
-
Choose one person to intentionally mentor over the next 90 days.
-
Build a leadership pipeline, not just a staff structure.
Beyond the Basics
Organizational transformation happens when these five points work in harmony. It’s the shift from managing outcomes to multiplying leaders. From driving results to cultivating momentum. From having a plan to inspiring belief.
This is the 4th Dimension—where legacy leadership is forged.
